About Dr. Crystal

As an expert servant leadership consultant, author, and independent Certified Coach, Teacher, and Speaker with the John Maxwell Team, Crystal brings an “others-centered” approach to helping great leaders build great organizations. Crystal helps organizations and leaders improve business results by empowering authentic conversations encouraging members at all levels of the organization to build trust, awareness, and meaningful contribution. From working with leaders to working with individuals and teams, Crystal helps people to envision the future of their organization, coaches them to harness the skills needed to think future-forward, and assesses the organizational culture to develop frameworks that will create high performing teams. Crystal considers the comprehensive scope of an organization and its people.

Crystal is the author of three books, Leading from Within: The Spirituality of Servant Leadership (2014), Leadership and Followership: Examining the Impact on Workplace Behavior (2017), and her third book, Bloom where you are planted: Reflections on Servant Leadership. Crystal’s research interests are in the areas of servant leadership, organizational development and culture, change management, and diversity in management.

Crystal is an active member of The National Society of Leadership and Success and Delta Mu Delta International Business Honor Society. She is a Research Affiliate at the Center for Workplace Diversity and Inclusion, University of Phoenix. Crystal serves as a foreign reviewer for two peer-reviewed journals at universities in Pakistan, and she is a grant reviewer for several not-for-profit organizations in the state of Kansas.

Her service as a board member of ULEAD, Inc. in Goshen, IN, keeps her grounded in work with youth and youth workers. Crystal has edited and coached 27 doctoral learners in the USA and internationally to degree completion since 2014. She loves traveling the country facilitating seminars, book discussions, and conversations around what it means to show up as a Serving leader.

Crystal holds a BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from Kansas State University, an MHR in Human Relations (summa cum laude) from the University of Oklahoma, and a Doctorate in Management specializing in Organizational Leadership (magna cum laude) from the University of Phoenix.
